The Leitz 42mm f4.5 Summar was the original optic used on the UR (prototype) Leica. This copy was salvaged from a Leitz Aristophot as the lens was originally designed for photo microscopy work.
This lens is mounted on a threaded adapter that is NOT 39mm, but a slightly larger 39.9-40mm, likely proprietary thread for Leitz microscope equipment. This lens is not marked with traditional f-stops, but historical literature indicates that the marked "2, 6, 12" positions translate to roughly f4.5, f8, and f11.
These lenses have been used to create UR-Leica replicas, though they may also be adapted to other cameras by use of a helical focus mount.
